The X7 was introduced in 2025 alongside its counterpart the 207 and runs four times a day on weekdays, with two city-bound journeys in the morning and two outward journeys in the evening (Saturdays see one of the morning journeys omitted). The route and calling points are the same as the 207 on the section between Heanor and New Stapleford, but direct to/from Nottingham city centre and QMC via Derby Road.

For the rest of the day similar journeys are catered for using through ticketing available on the 207 and P&R. To avoid overcrowding on the P&R at peak times, the X7 specifically caters to those passengers which would otherwise be changing between the P&R/207.

Vehicle duties on the X7 are interwoven with those on the 207 and tend to use larger single deck buses, or any double decker that can pass the 4.4m height restriction at Trowell.
