The 299 operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from West Bridgford to Loughborough, with two journeys in each direction. It was introduced at the end of summer 2024 as a 'shopper' type service to give connections to Loughborough without the need to change buses in Nottingham.

Both the 298 and 299 were introduced at the beginning of the 2024-25 academic year alongside the new 555 school service and more efficient re-timings of the Boots factory shuttles. The 'shopper' routes make use of the bus and driver in between the school and factory runs, so are usually run by a double decker.
