The 202 operates at a half hourly daytime frequency, Monday to Saturday, following the route of withdrawn Nottingham City Transport route 14. It links the Bramcote Avenue, Park Street and Devonshire Avenue areas of Beeston to the town centre, and runs through to Nottingham via Queens Road, University Boulevard, Abbey Street and Castle Boulevard.

It was the second route introduced by Robertson Buses in 2016, just over a year after the withdrawal of the preceding 14, and is the longest established RB route to exist in a largely unchanged form, aside from minor re-routings due to road alterations. Typically the route is served by small single decker buses.
