The 202 operates at a half hourly daytime frequency, Monday to Saturday, following the route of withdrawn Nottingham City Transport route 14. It links the Bramcote Avenue, Park Street and Devonshire Avenue areas of Beeston to the town centre, and runs through to Nottingham via Queens Road, University Boulevard, Abbey Street and Castle Boulevard.

It was the second route introduced by Robertson Buses, in 2016, just over a year after the withdrawal of the preceding 14. Aside from minor re-routings due to road alterations the 202 is the longest established RB route to exist in an unchanged form.

Three buses are needed to run the route, and since summer 2025 the 202 has been the preferred route for RB's three battery electric single deckers. Two new Optare Solo EVs joined the BYD K9UR already in the fleet and now make up the 202's usual allocation.
